Overheating Signs

I’m still really upset about the guy leaving his dog in the car for over 20 minutes that I felt like I need to write about the signs of a dog overheating since I saw most of these signs in the dog that was left in the car.

  • Heavy breathing or panting
  • Glazed eyes
  • Excessive thirst
  • Increased heart beat
  • Vomiting
  • Weakness
  • Dry or pale gums

Also be aware a dog can overheat while not in the car. Summer is here and we have to watch for these signs while we are outside having fun with our pups. If you see any of these signs while being outside you can do the following:

  • Make sure there is plenty of water
  • Have plenty of shade for them to rest in
  • If you see signs of overheating get cold water to place on their stomach, paws and armpits
  • Give your dog a summer haircut
  • If it’s too hot than just leave your pup inside
  • Have fun outside activities in the morning or later at night to avoid the hottest time of day
